When Husbands Cheat - 1998 ***

A private investigator who uncovers her friend's husband's infidelity soon becomes suspicious of her own husband when he started behaving oddly and working late at the office.
This is a good film, and one that probably resonates with lots of women.

Who's Harry Crumb - 1989 *** 1/2

John Candy is extremely funny in small doses. Here he plays a private investigator who comes off as something a bit like Peter Sellars in the Pink Panther.
He hasn't got a clue. He's absolutely rubbish as a person who tries to be a member of authority. The funniest scene involves his car becoming attached to the car in front and being dragged along the road for miles.
Watch it.

(HORROR) The Stepfather 2 - 1989 ***

This is one of those films where I probably would have tried to sneak into the cinema to see if I had been a teenager in 1989. I enjoyed the first offering, and while this certainly wasn't as strong as that, it had plenty of gruesome and very cheesy moments. It's the same guy from the last one, this time on the lookout for a gullible divorcee that he can start a new life with. Once he finds her, all seems to be going well, except other people seem to keep getting in the way.
One for those jokey movie sessions that aren't taken too seriously.

Weekend At Bernie's - 1989 *****

Remember that episode of 'Friends' when Rachel is asked what her mates think her favorite film is and she says 'Dangerous Liaisons', and then when they ask he what a real favorite film is she smirks and says 'Weekend at Bernie's' because it's thought of as a naughty pleasure? Well i'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I think this is one of the funniest films I have seen in AGES and I had a number of seriously uncontrollable laughing fits throughout.
Two guys are invited to Bernie their boss's house in Hampton Island for the weekend. They believe they are going because he is pleased with their work, he in fact wants to kills them because they have unearthed a serious mistake in his financial documents. However he is not aware that a mafia boss is actually out to kill HIM and so starts a chain of hysterically funny events where the 2 guys, after finding him dead, have to pretend that Bernie is alive in every situation possible so as not to arouse suspicion, much to the confusion of the hit man who was sure he had killed him! It's just brilliant, and very original. I'm going to track down the sequel.

(HORROR) Tetsuo: The Iron Man - 1989 1/2

The people who rated this movie as anything other than hideous must be from another planet. A hideously poor escuse of a movie from the Tartan Asian Gang. Centring around a metal fetishist who enjoys sticking bits of metal inside his various body parts, the film follows the man with a jerky camera as he runs around and makes funny noises whilst inserting more metal in more places. It's like an acid trip nightmare. Something you might dream about if you were in the middle of a serious bout of flu. Sort of delusional horror. Horrible. Something I never want to see again.
