Body Language - 1992 ****

Obsessed woman becomes dangerous when she tries to take over her boss's life, as well as her boyfriend. It's been likened to 'Single White Female' although I would say that's at a push, because it's no way near as creepy as that.
Betsy is in a job she loves, but it's also a job that has a huge responsibility and takes up a lot of her spare time, much to the annoyance of her partner. Norma is her assistant, wide-eyed and eager to help her with anything she needs, which turns out to be spying on her boyfriend, cancelling Betsy's dates with him, and generally making life awkward so that he eventually leaves her. She then swoops in on him, masquerading as a stood up woman also named Betsy, and he falls for her, at first...
Not a bad movie. Worth a view.

Deadly Matrimony - 1992 **

A gentle woman named Diane marries a businessman who is part of an organised crime racket. He starts to abuse and mistreat her eventually murdering her. It is up to the police to convict him of the crime.

Her Final Fury: Betty Broderick - The Last Chapter - 1992 **

The follow up to the story of scorned housewife who murders her husband and his new wife. This film chronicles Betty's court cases and her life in jail. Not as good as the first one but you still get snapshots of the previous sequences that led up to the murders.

A Woman Scorned: The Betty Broderick Story - 1992 ***

A true story that spawned a sequel, the decline of housewife Betty Broderick who, after years of marriage to her childhood sweetheart, is traded in for a younger model when he husband leaves her for his twenty-something assistant. Scorned and unwilling to be left behind, Betty engineers a series of episodes designed to infuriate and embarrass her husband. When these don't work, she decides to go one step further, with horrific consequences.

Willing to Kill - The Texas Cheerleader Story 1992 ** 1/2

Based on the true story of obsessive mother Wanda Holloway who, after becoming desperate for her daughter to qualify in the cheerleading trials, hires a hit man to murder the rival girl's mother. Relentless and hard hitting, this shows what lengths some people will go to come out on top and 'live through their children'. The sad part of this film is that the person who suffered the most was always going to be the daughter.

Fatal Love - 1992 **

'Fatal Love' was a film that I started watching on the assumption that it was actually another film. When it got to the nitty gritty of the topic of AIDS I realised that I had made a mistake. I'm not usually a big fan of giving up on films half way through so I stuck it out, and although Molly Ringwald does a very good job of portraying AIDS sufferer Alison Gertz it's still an incredibly depressing topic it's not something I would've actively chosen to watch a film about.

Obsessed - 1992 *** 1/2

I must admit I have a certain fondness for movies regarding obsessive people/relationships. I have been on the receiving end of an obsessed ex partner and it's very scary, but it doesn't stop me enjoying films of the same topic, safe in the knowledge that it never got this far.
Shannen Doherty is pretty good in this actually, before she shot to fame in the 'Charmed' series.
She plays a young lady who becomes infatuated with an older man, and when he decides to call time on the relationship, she turns nasty.
I suppose as the cover says, it is a bit like 'Fatal Attraction' although of course that takes the number 1 title of most obsessive movie.

Mother's Boys - 1992 *

Dreadful film with Jamie Lee Curtis as a psychotic mother who abandons her children and husband and then returns years later to create fresh havoc in their lives. Peter Gallagher is his usual sleazy self which is quite off putting but it doesn't really effect the overall hideousness of the film itself.

White men can't jump - 1992 ***

I got this mistaken with 'Boyz in the Hood' ( don't ask me why!) and so felt I had to watch it because it was in my must see movie book. It was moderately funny but in all honesty both lead characters are intensely unlikeable (Snipes less so than Harrelson I must add) and seem to have no morals or responsibilities other than teaming up and beating other 'macho' men at basketball. The whole film actually revolves around this, whilst making sure to point out every other scene that Woody Harrelson is white and therefore cannot play basketball. That is the only concept if this film.

(HORROR) Dr Giggles - 1992 **

Thinking this might be a bit of a freaky film to watch, soon turned into a hilarious experience featuring one of the most manic and ham-ish actors I have seen for a long time.
Dr Giggles is basically a complete maniac who likes performing surgery on anyone he cares to choose. He is utterly insane but in the least scary way possible. His laugh (as you can probably tell from the title) is that of a high-pitched, squeaky giggle that sounds a bit like an non-oiled bicycle. Nothing good here.

Bitter Moon - 1992 **

Hugh Grant was his usual irritating self in this, and I was completely put off by seeing Emmanuelle Seigner's eyebrows which seemed bigger than her whole head. Polanski is a bit of a hit or miss with me (a bit like Steve Martin) and although it was a fairly interesting look into a couple's relationship, it didn't do anything for me. Grant's morals seem continually absent in most of his films and they were no different here. He comes on a luxury cruise with his other half Fiona (Scott Thomas) and is almost immediatly obsessing over Seigner despite the fact that she is there with her crippled husband and doesn't actually seem very interested in him anyway. Her husband pulls Grant to one side and begins to tell him the story of how they met and fell in love. Grant isn't interested to start with but then becomes infatuated with everything he says. Meanwhile Fiona is feeling sea-sick and being irritating to little children.

Polanski's films always have a dark nature to them, but I found this just a bit much, and can't say I enjoyed it.

Poison Ivy - 1992 ***

Drew Barrymore comes from a long line of actors, most I admire more than her. She's not a bad actress and this is a decent thriller but I would never put her down as being especially talented.

She stars in this as a weird outsider named Ivy who befriends nerdy geek Sara Gibson. I can't remember what other film I've seen Gibson in but I'm sure she is the same sort of character in that as well.

The two girls have a strange slightly homo-erotic relationship going on, and before long Barrymore has weasled her way into Gibson's life and family, even going so far as seducing her father. She looks pretty young so I'm hoping she's not under the legal age because otherwise that's just disgusting.

I like these obsessive movies, it reminds me of 'The Crush' with Alicia Silverstone.
