Conte D'Ete - 1996 ****

A recent graduate takes a holiday before starting his first job and meets not one, but two women, both with different qualities. One is quiet and thoughtful and the other is loud and beautifully aware of her own allure. The only trouble is he also has a girlfriend who's a bit of a pain. Who should he choose?
Rohmer has a beautiful knack of showing off character studies to the maximum, each one is totally individual and captivating. He delivers this all in sumptuous surroundings that make you want to drop everything and leave for France immediately.

Fraternity Vacation - 1985 **

A low budget romp about what teens get up to on vacation when surrounded by beautiful, bikini clad women. 2 friends bet a rival pair of friends that they can bed lovely Ashley Taylor (the stunner from across the way) by the end of the holiday. What happens surprises everyone.
Not a bad film, although there are many more teen holiday flicks that can be rated higher.

(HORROR) Black Rock - 2013 *

'Black Rock' is a ridiculously poorly executed mess of bad acting, irritating characters  and a laughable story. As soon as you hear Kate Bosworth's dulcet tones announcing that she doesn't in fact have cancer like she pretended she did, and that she only said as much to get her two loggerhead friends to come along on holiday with her, you sort of realise the movie won't get any better. And it doesn't. l

What about Bob? - 1991 ****

'What about Bob' starts off as a rather strange, whimsical film and quickly escalates into almost screwball proportions. Bill Murray plays neurotic Bob, who decides to follow his new shrink (played brilliantly by Richard Dreyfuss) to his holiday home in Maine. Try as Dreyfuss might, he just can't get rid of Bob, even to the extent where his family start including him in everyday plans. Bob meanwhile is spreading his own sort of love around the island, with surprising results.
Worth a watch, I've wanted to see this for ages.
