A Few Best Men - 2011 ***

Was a bit hesitant about watching this especially seeing Kris Marshall. He's generally far too over the top for me, but he actually worked here. He meshed well with the other characters - the do holder groom, the hopeless manic depressive friend, and the 'heading for trouble wherever he goes' pal. Olivia Newton-John didn't stand out, but it didn't matter. Some hilarious head trippy scenes ensue, including a gay drug dealer and a cocaine smuggling goat, and it was worth the ride.

Gettin' It - 2006 ***

Teen comedy about a shy and unpopular virgin who, after a misunderstanding about his "size" becomes popular beyond his wildest dreams with all the women in his town. It's silly and immature but quite amusing.

Mardi Gras: Spring Break- 2011 ***

Carmen Electra doesn't appear to have actually been in a decent film. Her name appears on a film and the male population goes wild. In this film the director hasn't even bothered to give her a character name, so she plays herself. Brilliant. Three guys go to New Orleans to experience the best Mardi Gras celebrations ever (supposedly) and bump into Carmen Electra. It's quite amusing.

A New Kind of Love - 1963 *** 1/2

When mannish Joanne Woodward is contracted to go with her boss to Paris to 'lift' some new ideas for the latest fashion season in New York, she becomes enamoured with a caddish playboy (Paul Newman) who is there to get a scope for a new newspaper article. After a misunderstanding and a drastic makeover, Newman mistakes Woodward for an elegant, foreign debutante and starts to pursue her.
Beautiful shots of Paris, and you can see Paul and Joanne's genuine love for each other in the scenes they inhabit together.

What about Bob? - 1991 ****

'What about Bob' starts off as a rather strange, whimsical film and quickly escalates into almost screwball proportions. Bill Murray plays neurotic Bob, who decides to follow his new shrink (played brilliantly by Richard Dreyfuss) to his holiday home in Maine. Try as Dreyfuss might, he just can't get rid of Bob, even to the extent where his family start including him in everyday plans. Bob meanwhile is spreading his own sort of love around the island, with surprising results.
Worth a watch, I've wanted to see this for ages.

Come September - 1971

A nice easy going film. Rock Hudson plays a wealthy playboy who retreats to his beautiful mansion in Italy for one month in September a year. During this time he meets up with his gorgeous fling Lisa then goes back to America with no ties or restrictions. This time however, he comes to Italy early, and finds that his girlfriend is on the verge of getting married, and his mansion has been transformed into a hotel. Things are about to get a lot more chaotic than he could ever imagine.
Very funny, Rock Hudson is always good for a laugh.

Who's Harry Crumb - 1989 *** 1/2

John Candy is extremely funny in small doses. Here he plays a private investigator who comes off as something a bit like Peter Sellars in the Pink Panther.
He hasn't got a clue. He's absolutely rubbish as a person who tries to be a member of authority. The funniest scene involves his car becoming attached to the car in front and being dragged along the road for miles.
Watch it.

(HORROR) Scary Movie 5 - 2013 ***

I am a fan of the Scary Movie films. I know they are over the top and downright stupid in some parts but that's what I like about them. They always cheer me up if I need it. Scary Movie 5 continues in this vein. It draws on horror movies that have been out since like Paranormal Activity and Mama. Anna Faris isn't in this, but it doesn't really matter because Ashley Tisdale does well on her own and serves up a few dozen laughs all by herself. Snoop Dogg pops up randomly in a scene which is also quite amusing, he seems to have a habit of doing that.
I'll keep watching them for as long as they carry on making them.

It's Complicated - 2009 ****

I was seriously surprised by how funny this film was. I was expecting it to be a typical rom-com like all the others that have been churned out in the last few years but actually it was very amusing. Meryl Streep is wonderful, I don't think I've ever seen her in a film that I didn't like but Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin - what is going on with their faces??? They both seem like they have been drowned in botox from their forehead to their chin leaving this creepy slightly manic look that doesn't change regardless of what emotion they are trying to show. It is particularly obvious in Steve Martin which leads to some very disturbing scenes where he is stoned out of his head but still looks exactly the same as he did beforehand.
Streep and Baldwin are a divorced couple, Streep is now single and Baldwin is married to a woman that he cheated on Streep with along with inheriting a couple of her children. However, several awkward moments ensue and before long they are beginning an affair behind Baldwin's wife. Ironic, as now the first wife has become the mistress. Some very funny parts, some sentimental parts, and some downright bizarre parts, but all in all I think this film is one of the better comedies that has come out in America.
