BadLands - 1973

Love and murder, two things they did not know a lot about.
Badlands will for me always be the film with that annoying song. The one that in fact True Romance uses as well through most of it's movie even though the two films are based on the same thing, killing sprees of the young. Can they not find another song maybe? Or is the duplicity intentional? It's pretty eerie to see a very young Martin Sheen hit on Sissy Spacek as 15 year old girl especially when now they both look ancient. The horrible thing about this movie is not the acting, for that from both sides is pretty excellent, but instead for the crimes that were committed by the two individuals as though they were playing a game, with such frightening carelessness that it was certainly a wake-up for people all over America. In that aspect alone this movie speaks a very strong message. As I mentioned above True Romance is a more modernised version of this movie and although directed by Tarantino, I found this one to be far superior so if you were going to choose then this would be the movie to go for.
Rating 4/5
