The Whole Town's Talking - 1935

You'll have a hoot

Well any film with Jean Arthur is going to be an enjoyable experience, her unmistakable twang and electric personality make her the perfect female comedienne of the 30s. Edward G. Robinson to my mind has not appeared in many comedies and so I was excited to see how he would perform. I was happily surprised to see that he also has a comic flair. His split scenes with the killer who sports an identical face to him are very well put together and efffortlessly acted. Robinson will always be known as the Public Enemy No 1 of the silver screen and no comedy he is in will change that but I really do think this movie is worth a look to see a slightly different side to him.

Rating 4/5
