If you could only cook - 1935

She gave up her park bench for him, he gave up his millions for her!
I have to admit, this is a lovely, fluffy comedy to watch on a cold or rainy afternoon. Jean Arthur is very enticing as the jobless blonde who decides to answer an add for cook and Herbert Marshall adds a bit of male elegance as the rich executive who, smitten by her charms, agrees to apply for the other part of the job as butler. Neither know however that the house they are accepted at happens to be the home of a gangster...he turns out however, to have a heart of gold!
A nice little film which although originally was to be released as a B movie, ended up coming out as an A, I can see why.
Rating 4/5
