Stardust - 2007

A star falls, the chase begins.

Well 'Stardust' was one of those films that I felt needed to be saved for a time when I was totally in the mood to view it or I may end up missing out on some of the fantasy elements. This chance came along last saturday evening after having had the dvd for nearly six months still in its packaging. This film truly is magical. There is not a dud character in the entire movie and that is saying something pretty fantastic. Even newcomer Charlie Cox acted his little socks off to the best of his ability. The highlight for me and everyone else in the room was of course Robert De Niro who acts as camp as Christmas without a shred of embarassment, a true gem. Claire Danes also lights up the screen (snigger snigger) as the fallen star who becomes involved with Cox as he sets out to find her and take her back to his love, played cattily by Sienna Miller.
Other well known actors pop up from time to time including a facially disfigured Rupert Everett and those two funny blokes from Green Wing (can anyone rememeber their names?!)A star studded cast makes for a lovely evening in front of the box and a motion picture that no one will forget.

Rating 4.5/5
