Who would have thought that a film about a lifesize spaceship constructed to look like a human called Dave (named after the captain of the ship)would be a good film? In fact it sounds positively juvenile, however it's very funny. Eddie Murphy always lends a childlike essence to his movies and he doesn't disappoint here. Although the plot is a little thin it still contains plenty of belly laughs over Dave's outrageous attempts to fit in with normal society and the mayhem caused when the captain of the ship falls for a human woman. Not much of a thinker, and the duration is short, but it is a novel idea which cannot be missed.
